Sweet by Erin McCarthy

Sweet (True Believers, #2)Sweet by Erin McCarthy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jessica was raised by parents whose expectations she could never meet. In an attempt to avoid them and their perfectionist demands, she lies to them about her summer plans and ends roommates with Riley, bad boy extraordinaire. But as Jessica gets deeper involved in Riley's world, she discovers that you can't judge a book by its cover.

I liked this book much better than the first in the series. Jessica was actually a lot of fun. Raised with designer clothes and never wanting for anything, she had a don't-mess-with-me attitude and was not afraid to use it, but deep down she just wanted to be accepted for herself. She wanted people to look at her and see her, not who they thought she should be. Riley was much more than I was expecting. We only got a small glimpse of him in True, but he was a true surprise, in a good way. His only concern was taking care of his brothers, and everything else could go to hell.

One of the most endearing things about this book was the slow buildup to the romance between Jessica and Riley. There was instant attraction, but it was not acted on right away. And the back-and-forth between the two of them was hilarious.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
