Book Description:  The spark of all dilemmas is lies and deception

Just what is love? Is it just a word people use for personal gain? Is it a verb that needs creativity expression in order to understand its full meaning? Or, is it just looking in the mirror?

For Chantrelle Hayfield, love is simplicity. But, she lives in Atlanta, a complex city full of surprises. Like her chiseled, tall, and chocolate next door neighbor, Rasheed Goodmen, who could be a new love interest? But, when her best friend, Ashley Leslie, comes out about her true feelings, will Chantrelle be able to handle the convoluted feelings of others even if that means losing her simplicity?

Chantrelle’s other friends Ariel Samson and Alexis Smith could be able to guide her? But, Ariel needs to learn to be a little selfish and Alexis has to stop scheming to get by. The underworld of Atlanta will test each of these women. Because behind the spark of every dilemma, is lies and deception. Who will be able to see clearly in order to avoid tragedy?

About the Author:  Throughout Mr. Sokhna life, he searched for a purpose. At the age of eighteen, he went through some tough times. His girlfriend left him, his finances were not where they needed to be, his family was struggling to make ends meet, he lost his Hope scholarship, and was desperately trying to find out what was his purpose here on earth. The depression within him started to build and lead to an attempt of suicide.
With the love and support of his family and close friends, he slowly climbed back on his feet, but there was still one remaining problem. He still didn’t know what his purpose was, until he had a vision.

S
omething within him told him to write down his story. There was resistance, but he followed the hunch. Five thousand words turn into ten thousand. Then ten turned into twenty thousand. Then all of a sudden, twenty thousand words turned into over forty thousand words. He recognized that he found his true passion. It was something that will challenge him. It was something he was yearning for all his life. It was something he could call “his own” and that something was writing.

Mr. Sokhna purpose is to ignite the creativity within people and help them realize that life is much more than what meets the eye. He wants his readers to know that all that we ever done and all we will ever do in this world is just the tip of this iceberg of what could have been done in this life.

T
he Worst Dilemma Series is one of the three ways he likes to channel his talent to the world. Being able to create erotic content that makes people blush is not only pleasing to him, but it makes him more humble to evolve the craft of literature. Mr. Sokhna will continue to strive to bring more enticing content through The Worst Dilemma Series. A series that will shed light on some of the toughest situations people go through in life, with the added bonus of erotic content.

Accidentally In Love With...A God? by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Accidentally In Love With...A God? (Accidentally Yours #1)Accidentally In Love With...A God? by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this from NetGalley.

If you enjoy fun, witty, paranormal romance that is full of action, than Accidentally In Love With...A God? is the book for you.

Emma Keane has been plagued by this incessant voice in her head since she can remember. Even though she is strangely attracted to the sexy, disembodied male voice that she has named Guy, Emma is ready for a normal life. Guy has told her that she has to travel to Mexico to free him. Has she lost her mind to even consider doing this? Will Guy's body be as sexy as his voice? What dangers will be waiting for Emma in the jungles of Mexico?

Emma is a clever, determined woman who is willing to fight for what she believes. She, at times, has understandably questioned her own sanity which made reading this hilarious. I really enjoyed the banter between Emma and Guy. I look forward to continuing this series.

Book Description:
Thirty-six-year-old Irene Dunphy didn't plan on dying any time soon, but that’s exactly what happens when she makes the mistake of getting behind the wheel after a night bar-hopping with friends. She finds herself stranded on earth as a ghost, where the food has no taste, the alcohol doesn’t get you drunk, and the sex...well, let’s just say “don’t bother.” To make matters worse, the only person who can see her—courtesy of a book he found in his school library—is a fourteen-year-old boy genius obsessed with the afterlife.

Unfortunately, what waits in the Great Beyond isn’t much better. Stuck between the boring life of a ghost in this world and the terrifying prospect of three-headed hell hounds, final judgment, and eternal torment in the next, Irene sets out to find a third option—preferably one that involves not being dead anymore. Can she wipe the slate clean and get a second chance before it’s too late?

Excerpt

“Come.” Samyel gestured, indicating that they should follow him. “We must go.”

“Go? Go where?”

“Away. Inside. Or they will see.”

“Who will see what?”

The dark glasses revealed nothing as he stood impassively for a moment. “Everyone.”

Samyel was attracting a lot of attention. The crowd moving around them was giving him a wide berth, and he was the focus of a lot of strange looks, which just confirmed that he wasn’t dead—people could see him. Irene knew that it looked like a seven-foot tall man in a trench coat and dark glasses was talking to himself in the middle of the sidewalk. It wouldn’t be long before the cops came to investigate.

Irene gestured for Samyel to lead the way. “Fine. Let’s go.”

Irene heard another choke of protest and glanced at Jonah. There was a silent exchange of mouthed words, pantomimed gestures, and angry, exaggerated looks.

“Don’t be crazy,” Jonah hissed. “You can’t go with him!”

“You’re the one that always wants to stop and talk to every weirdo we meet,” she countered. “And what do you mean ‘you’? We’re both going.”

“Uh uh,” Jonah said. “This is your idea. If you get murdered, I’m not saving you.”

With an exasperated look, she motioned for Jonah to follow and set out after Samyel, who was nearly out of sight. Jonah reluctantly followed. Irene gave him a wry look as they trailed, side by side, a few feet behind Samyel. “You know, at some point, we’re going to have to talk about your propensity for picking fights with people bigger than yourself.”

“What’s propensity?”

“A really bad habit that you should stop.”

Jonah’s expression turned unreadable for a long moment, as if he was debating with himself, and then he looked away, stuffing his hands in his pockets and bowing his head to stare at the sidewalk as they went.

“I’ve changed the password, by the way, so you can’t do that again,” he said darkly.

She grabbed his arm, pulling him to a halt. “Jonah, listen to me. It’s not that I don’t appreciate you trying to protect me. I do. Even when it’s annoying and misplaced, like with Ernest. You’re the bravest, sweetest guy I’ve ever met, but I’m dead. You’re not. I’m already probably going to Hell for dragging you along on this adventure. Don’t add being the cause of your death to my list of crimes, okay?”

The tips of his ears had turned pink and his head was down, shoulders hunched. Then, to her surprise, he suddenly looked at her, his eyes inquiring as he searched her face. She didn’t know what he was looking for, but he was gazing at her so earnestly that she blushed.

The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

The Edge of Never (The Edge of Never, #1)The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After a couple of really tragic years, Camryn just needs to get away from it all. With only the necessities, she gets on a bus to nowhere. She has no plan, no destination. All she really knows is she wants something more. Andrew is on the way to see his dad in the hospital, probably for the last time. Like Camryn, Andrew has no real direction. He just wants to live life to the fullest, because he knows all too well it is too short. Feeling like kindred spirits, the two head off on a journey of self-discovery, laughs, friendship, and heartbreak.

What I liked: I liked Camryn and Andrew's relationship. There was a slow build, which is a nice change from the falling in love in a day we often get. They were also a lot of fun together. There were many "fun" times between them. I love the idea of being able to take off and do what you want with no cares in the world. I love the idea of kindred spirits.

What I didn't like: For me the story was too slow. It drug, especially in the middle during the car trip. I got really tired of sitting in the car discussing pop vs. classic rock. I needed to get out and stretch my legs. Though, the story did pick up about half-way through (after they reached New Orleans). Additionally, Camryn was being portrayed as a confident, know what I want type of girl, but somewhere along the line (pretty early in the story) she lost that. There was also a lot of talk that never really went anywhere. The sex talk (self-discovery, finding out what Cam likes) would have made much more sense if it had actually been incorporated into the story. As it was, it was just one of many conversations that went nowhere. Last, all the detailed music talk. I love music. I listen to music every day, but I don't know…the way it was written into everything and talked about on every page got old.

So while I was not in love with this story, it was still good and quite entertaining, though not enough for me to want to read more of the series, though with all the fabulous reviews I really feel like I am missing something here.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Edge of Dawn by Lara Adrian

Edge of Dawn (Midnight Breed, #11)Edge of Dawn by Lara Adrian
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to admit I was a little reluctant to read this after I realized it time jumped 20 years. Though I love the Midnight Breed series, and I love the kids (Kellan, Mira, and Nathan) from the series, I was afraid we would lose too much in the transition from one generation to the next. However, I am happy to report that this book was as wonderful as the first ones. The time jump did take a few chapters to get used to. As I was reading I was picturing the 'kids' as kids; it took me a little while to get it through my head that they are now grown up.

Edge of Dawn is Kellan and Mira's story. We saw where they came from and watched them find their little piece of the world as children. This book definitely did them justice. I love Mira. She grew up in the world of the Order surrounded by boys trying to become men, and she held her own. She demanded their love and respect, and she never backed down from something she wanted. If you've read the first books in this series you know Kellan came from death and destruction. He had made something for himself, but in a moment of fear he gave it all up. He thought, of course, he was doing it for all the right reasons, but he eventually discovers you can't run from fate.

I had really thought the Breed series would end with Chase's story in Darker After Midnight. However, Lara Adrian has reinvented the series by aging the kids and bringing in new threats to the Breed. All of our old favorites of the Order are still in this story, but with the addition of some new and fascinating characters. I'm excited about where this storyline is going and am looking forward to Nathan's story, but I really hope it doesn't end there!

Exclusive Excerpt:

Jake had never felt as self conscious as he did right then, standing in the queue to get into Wings. He could feel the eyes on him, speculating, assessing, appraising and it made him want to turn and run in the opposite direction. The only thing that kept him rooted to the spot was his promise to Greg. In the short time he had known the bloke, he was already beginning to consider him a friend and his friend would be waiting for him somewhere inside. Despite his discomfort, he couldn't let him down.

The queue moved up a foot and he shuffled along with it, avoiding eyes and watching the pavement. When had he become such a hermit? Right, when Michael left his life. He pushed thoughts of his lover out of his mind. If he started to reminisce he wouldn't stop, and if he didn't stop then the dam would break, and if the dam broke then, it didn't bear thinking about.

Another foot and he was almost at the front of the queue. The twinkling lights of the elaborate sign cast a cheery glow across his bare skin. The rain earlier had cleared the air and it was surprisingly mild for a late November evening. Bearing this in mind, he had donned a black short-sleeved polo shirt that fit him snugly, but not too snugly, and his comfortable dark jeans. Michael had loved the way his arse looked in them, Dammit! He needed to stop doing that.

Another shuffle and he shuddered as a prickling sensation ran across his skin. Weird...

He looked up to see the bouncer remove the barrier and let a few more people in. Like most bouncers, the man was tall, built and forbidding-looking. With short, dark, cropped hair, and eyes like steel, he gave each entrant a thorough once over.

Jake got to the front of the queue and waited for the bouncer to remove the rope barrier, his eyes fixed on the thick red, velvet rope. Nothing happened.

Jake looked up.

The bouncer was staring at him, his eyes narrowed, his lips pressed tightly together.

"New in town?" he asked.

Jake blinked up in surprise. Was it a requirement to make small talk before entering? He nodded. "Yes."

"Passing through?"

Jake frowned. Something about the bouncer's tone rankled him and he found his hackles rising in defence. "I don't see how that's any of your business."

The bouncer's brows shot up and then his mouth arranged itself in a humourless grin. "If you're coming into my club then, yeah, it is my business."

Sod this, he didn't need this hassle. He was just about to open his mouth and tell the bouncer where to shove it when another voice did it for him.

"For fuck's sake, Samuel, stop flirting with Jake and let us in!" The voice was female, sultry and deliberately provocative.

Samuel's head whipped up and his nostrils flared. His eyes narrowed once more. "You know this guy?" he asked the owner of the voice.

Jake felt an arm slip through his and looked up to find a short, curvy red-head on his arm. She shot him a wink and turned back to Samuel the bouncer. "Why? You jealous?" There was a little too much sincerity in that question. As if realising this, the red-head covered it with a laugh.

Samuel stared steadily down at the woman for a long beat before lifting the barrier and waving them through. The red-head tugged him along, and as they passed the big guy he leaned in and whispered something which sounded an awful lot like, "Watch your back," and then they were in the dark, humid confines of the club.

"Well," the woman extricated herself. "That wasn't the way I was intending on meeting you for the first time, but I guess it will have to do." She held out a hand. "I'm Ivy, Ivy Black." And then it hit him, where he had seen her before; outside Greg's picking up Crystal. He would know that shade of red anywhere.

Jake took her hand and shook it once. "Jake Pendragon. But you already knew that."

She chuckled. "Nothing stays secret in this town for long." She leaned in. "You weren't going for secret were you?"

Now it was Jake's turn to chuckle.
